Parent Link
The fundraising arm of our school community is called Parent Link. You may wonder what it is all about and how it works. The information on this page should answer most of your questions.
We are a group of parents and caregivers who organise fundraising events for our childrens' school. We work with our children's teachers and the Board of Trustees to decide what additional resources our school requires.
Parent Link- What is it and Who is it?
Parent Link was formed to help our school raise funds to get things that ordinarily we couldn't get. The Government gives only so much money to our school which only goes so far. We are a group of parents and caregivers who volunteer a small amount of our time and work together to organise fundraising events for our school.
Parent Link is a team effort. We have a Chairperson, Treasurer and Rotating Secretary.
We meet during the school term about once a month or as required for specific fundraising events. Meetings are about an hour and are normally held in the evenings. Dates and times are advised in the school's weekly newsletter. Parent Link members contribute either by offering our skills, our time to help out, or just voice an opinion. We plan events for each term; the Owhiro Bay Community Fair is our major fundraiser. It's a great opportunity for everyone to get involved and help support the school.
The Principal and teachers attend the meetings. They make a valuable contribution and they pass on information, such as the teachers wish list, and confirm how the school's premises and resources can be used for events. We also maintain strong links with the Board of Trustees.
