Kia ora koutou, my name is Sarah Moorhouse and my family and I are Brooklyn locals who are very lucky to call Ōwhiro Bay Learning Community home.
This year, my role has evolved and I’m lucky to wear many hats across the school. Alongside my role as a parent in the community, I work as a literacy intervention teacher in the junior school, teach Year 3 and Year 5 maths, and in the afternoons you’ll often find me releasing teachers, painting with our tamariki, and facilitating PE sessions.
What I enjoy most about my work is the variety and the opportunity to connect with so many different learners across the school. I love creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences and fostering a positive environment where students feel confident, curious, and excited about learning.
Outside of school, you’ll often spot me running along the coast, usually with a coffee stop in mind! A fun fact about me is that I am currently training for a half marathon!
